Kadang kita bisa menemukan kalimat yang mengimplikasikan 'if-clause'.
Maksudnya?? Tidak secara kasat mata, terang2an tertulis 'if-clause' nya, jadi sampe mata melotot juga ga ada...hahaha TAPI...dia secara tidak langsung (implied) menyampaikan itu.

Nah...sebagai ganti 'if' itu, mari perhatikan penggunaan 'but', 'without', dan 'otherwise' pada kalimat di bawah ini untuk menyampaikan implied conditional sentences. =p

1. He would have visited me yesterday, but he had something to do.
Perhatikan baik2 klausa yg aku cetak miring itu. Itulah adalah implied condition-nya.
Klausa cetak miring itu sebenernya mewakili klausa ini: if he had not had something to do.
Jadi kalo mau diubah ke conditional sentence, dia menjadi:
>> He would have visited me yesterday if he had not had something to do.

Nah ini yang perlu diperhatikan lagi. Dalam implied conditional sentences, yang di-implied-kan adalah conditionnya, makanya judulnya implied conditions.
Perhatikan lagi kalimat yang digarisbawahi, dia adalah result clause-nya. Lihat struktur kalimatnya...tidakkah dia sama dengan conditional sentences type 3?

Lagi dan lagi...perhatikan kalimat cetak miring dengan 'without': dialah si implied condition itu.
"Aku ga akan berdiri di sini hari ini tanpa dukungan dari mereka."
Mereka itu sebenernya menggantikan ini lhooo: if they did not give their support.
>> I would not stand here today if they did not give their support.

Sekarang perhatikan kalimat yang digarisbawahi...that is the result clause. Perhatikan strukturnya, tidakkah dia sama dengan si doi dalam conditional sentence type 2?


3. I could help you, but I am very busy now. *ya kaga usah ngomong kalo gitu..dasar PHP!! =P
The implied condition stands for if I were not busy now.
The result is just the same as the underlined sentence. ;)
>> I could help you if I were not busy now.

4. You would have passed the test, but you did not study hard.
The implied condition stands for if I had studied hard.
The result is just the same as the underlined sentence. =D
>> You would have passed the test if you had studied hard.

Kesimpulan untuk implied condition dengan but atau without:
1. Kalimat yang ada but ato without itulah implied condition-nya. Mereka masing2 mewakili if-clause.
2. Untuk mengetahui conditional sentences manakah yg mrk wakili, yang perlu kita perhatikan adalah kalimat tersebut mewakili kejadian yang terjadi di masa lampau atau sekarang.
Dari mana kita tau? Lihat result clause nya!!!
Untuk 'but' atau 'without', result clause itulah yang memberikan informasi kepada kita apakah itu something untrue that happens in the present OR happened in the past karena struktur penulisannya sama persis dengan conditional sentence type 2 dan conditional sentence type 3 . INGAT!!!

type 2: S+could/would+V1 (past tense)
type 3: S+could/would+have+V3 (past perfect)
